WOW is a MMORPG, meaning massively multiplayer online role playing game. It takes place in the world of Azeroth, a HUGE world where you can select a player out of 4-5 classes and 4-5 professions based on your alliance and class. For example, you can aspire to become a gnome mage, or night elf rogue, so on and so forth.
Pros:
This game has a great variety in the multitude of professions, classes, and quests that one can follow.
This game has a great amount of players playing at once and huge battles can go on side by side.
This game has a high replay value.
Cons:
This game has a very quest oriented storyline, meaning that outside of quests, one can not progress far into the game. From lvl 1 to lvl 60 or 70, one is doing quests all day. One must do quests to level up and grinding does not help one level faster.
Some professions can get boring, and then one must start over with another from lvl 1. This can get really frustrating, trying to choose the right profession.
The game is SOOO large that it takes almost 10 minutes to walk from one town to another. On top of that, annoying creatures bombard you, forcing you to wait and kill them before proceeding.
The predator-prey paradox, found by Adil B. is found in not only this game, but in other RPGs like GuildWars. This paradox cites the fact that lvl 10 huge spiders are walking next to lvl 6 elder nightsabers, and not attacking each other. Instead, they both gang up to attack you, which does not make much sense. This relationship is seen with every critter in the game.
OVERALL:
Due to the increased complexity of this MMORPG, I hesitate to rank it fully, rather giving it a 7/10. This game lacks easiness, not for the beginner who just wants some quick fun. For people who lack dedication, other games like Guildwars may be a better pick.
Remember, those well experienced players that you may see in trailers have played at least 40+ hours.
